After two years in the planning the final event of our 70th Anniversary year was the Super Stakes and what a night it was.  Dogs and owners groomed and preened and looking fantastic.  We do scrub up quite well!!

The evening started with the draw which was organised and overseen by Jean Harrison and ably assisted by Paul Woodhouse, Kathryne Wrigley and Lesley Bain who kept the process running smoothly.  Lesley had been in charge of our judges and had managed to keep them secret until they were introduced to everyone on the night.  Jill Dixon and Ann Digby were our breed specialists and Jeff Horswell was our all rounder.

All three judges were asked to make the final decision and found their ultimate Best In Match in Chris & Pete Sandiford and Claire Lewis’ Sh Ch Hernwood Calypso Goddess JW ShCM.  The Reserve Best In Match and Best Opposite Sex went to Maggy Halliday’s Ch Yennadon The Druid with the Best Veteran In Match going to Geoff and Sue Tong’s Sh Ch Liric Par Xcellance with Kellizlot JW ShCM.

We had commissioned special trophies for the event and we had sponsorship from CSJ Specialist Canine Feeds.  All the exhibitors were given a goodie bag with lots of treats and a commemorative slobber cloth.

After the match the evening took on a more informal feel with a lovely 4 course meal and then the raffle and much awaited auction of Douglas our special Gordon who had been brought over from Russia by Silvia Timmerman.  Ramsey Nagaty took on the role of auctioneer and did an amazing job raising £300 for him!  Douglas now has a new forever home with Angela Phillips, thank you Angela we know he will be cherished.

Formalities out of the way the dance floor awaited.  For some of us storm Angus took on a different meaning if you got to dance with Angus Macara he certainly knows how to move!!

To everyone who made this evening the amazing event that it was, thank you, it made all the hard work worth it.
